Math is done. Language, reading, and Bible, too. Chore lists are crossed off, and Minecraft has been abundantly played.
.
It’s Thursday, and homeschool is essentially done for the day (no science or history today). It’s also 10:42 in the morning.
.
A common concern among new homeschoolers is “what am I doing wrong if they finish their school work in only an hour or two?” The answer is simply, “you’re doing nothing wrong at all!” Homeschool is not public school. Don’t compare the two. Homeschooling does not take nearly as much time because you can move along as your children understand and master a topic.
.
So what do my kids do the rest of the day? Sometimes, way too much Minecraft. But also…they learn life skills. They cook, clean, mow the lawn, and create. They build “primitive” forts outside and use tarps, trees, and paracord to make a swimming pool. They set up targets and shoot airsoft guns and work on “clearing” the backyard. They play board games, and tend the garden. They go to MMA and Jiu Jitsu and ice skating lessons and co-ops. They live life, and they enjoy themselves.
.
This is our homeschool. This is their education. This is their childhood….and hope they enjoy it.
