“Levi, you can’t bring the shovel or pickaxe over; they aren’t primitive.”
.
These are two happy little homeschoolers, taking advantage of the smoke AQI “dropping significantly” into the low 100’s for the first time in a long time. They’re barefoot, muddy, working together, and VERY happy.
.
First off, who says Youtube can’t drive and encourage interests and bring education!?!? I mean, it’s definitely not what my almost 14 year old wants to use it for, but I digress. These two have always found Youtube to offer them a wealth of ideas for creativity.
.
Second, why in the world, in the year 2021, after all that we experienced last year, are we STILL thinking that homeschoolers are “missing” something?!?! Like, really. Why?
.
Why are we still believing the lie that self-directed learning doesn’t offer the ultimate education?
.
Why are we believing the lie that “school” is where we learn best?
.
Why are we still believing that “school” takes all day, is supposed to be at least somewhat painful, and must encompass at least a marginal amount of tears and frustration?
.
Learning is fun. And it should always be fun. Kids will naturally gravitate towards things that interest them. Homeschooling allows them to fully dive into their interests. It’s likely the only place where kids who are curious about primitive technologies can just go and immerse themselves in it outside. Let kids help guide their education-it’s oh-so-messy, and totally worth it.
